The Dreaded Grave Yard Shift!

Yesterday was my turn to work the dreaded grave yard shift.

I went in to work at 8 pm and didn’t get home until 5 in the morning. This shift is a really hard shift to work. Everyone working this shift last night was very cheerful and in a good mood. We had to go around and re-count everything that the inventory people counted. Sometimes I would lose count after counting past 160 or more, good grief, it was the wee hours in the morning. As time rolled around, I would lose count after counting past 50 or more!

By the time 3 am rolled around, I was ready to cry. Thank goodness, this inventory only happens once a year.  I was able to nap for an hour and a half yesterday afternoon, but that wasn’t nearly enough sleep for me. I came home and went to bed right away, but couldn’t fall asleep for about an hour or two.

TC let me sleep in until about 10:30, I wanted to get up and try to put in a full day of activities so I could go to bed at a decent hour tonight and get back to a normal schedule.

Today I’m staying inside cleaning the motor home and doing laundry. It is 103 degrees out and being outside is very uncomfortable. TC is on light duty because of the heat.  We have a severe thunderstorm warning in effect.  It is very black out and we hear thunder in the distance.

It looks like a good night to stay in and read, I’m sure we will lose electric if this nasty storm is going to come and visit us.

I hate thunder!!!! I'm really scared!
The candles are out and we are deciding if we should put the awning up or not. We will check the weather and see about the wind. Maybe we will be lucky and get a nice, much needed shower and this big bad nasty storm will go by us.

Jodie is such a sissy   Smile
I will not be counting sheep as I sleep tonight, but I’ll be counting kitchen utensils, towels, sheets and drapes…….
Thanks for reading, life is good..............

Not being able to fall asleep is really a bummer. I hope you get some ZZZs tonight.

I only did that kind of all nighter a couple times in my life, and it sucked.
I was running a catering truck for a fellow who had a night run. He begged me to do it for him, as he couldn't get anyone. No kidding.
I was a young student and needed the money. The things you do.
I remember one time (it was about 3:00 a.m.) actually stopping at a green light, and then proceeding through the red...
That's how pooched I was. Didn't realise I was "sleeping" until about half way through the intersection. There was absolutely no traffic, thankfully. That was the last time I worked for him. Just managed to find other guys who wanted to take vacation...and who didn't have "night runs".
Hope you recover.
