Getting All Settled In!

Apartment living is going well.  Some things need fine tuning and re-organized, but for the most part, we are settled in. I’ve been working a ton of hours and haven’t had much free time.  When I do get the occasional day off, I keep busy doing laundry, cleaning and shopping.

The mall is becoming a zoo, with all of the holiday shoppers.  Moms and dads are bringing their children in all dressed up to see Santa Claus and get a picture taken. Shoppers are searching for the right gift, husbands and boyfriends are looking for the perfect present  and lots of shoppers are buying gift cards. For the most part, people have been really nice, but once in a while you get that nasty shopper. These nasty shoppers want to know why they have to wait in line or why we ran out of a certain item. Maybe these shoppers should stay home and shop online. Yep, that sounds like a good idea, if they stay home and shop, they will keep their nasty attitudes home with them.

Overwhelmed!

I know it has been a long time since my last post......

The past few weeks have gone by in a blur.  We moved into our new apartment on Thanksgiving day.  We are still moving stuff out of the motor home.  We are amazed as to how much we had in that home on wheels.  I guess after living full-time in our RV for all of these years, we collected more that we thought.  I’m slowly getting the apartment organized and set up. As I said in past posts, working in retail during the holiday season really sucks the life out of you!  I told TC that the mall owns me from Black Friday until the first of the year and they will give me back to him then.

Black Friday was a very busy day, I’m told that when we opened the doors the shoppers came in like a stampeding herd, raced to hop on the  escalator and the escalator broke.  I went in an hour after the store opened and missed all of the action. We had some nice deals on small kitchen appliances and that’s what they were all going upstairs to buy. We sold out of all of the appliances very quickly.

This year we are giving away cute little buttons to every shopper.  The buttons have a code on the back to enter on the website (Buttons) to win great prizes. Yesterday a lady came in to shop for window treatments with her $500.00 her gift card she won with her button!
So far this apartment life is agreeing with me.  The things I love about this new life of ours, are the dishwasher, the space, the garbage disposal and having a bathtub.

We had so much fun shopping for our furniture at different thrift shops and we are very pleased with our selections.

We are so very blessed……

The Craziness Has Begun!

The holiday shopping has started.  The mall is crazy, shoppers are getting really testy and those salvation army bell ringers are everywhere!

We are still living in our motor home. I've been working so many hours, I have not had the time to do anything else. The apartment has boxes everywhere and our motor home has boxes everywhere. Not one thing is in the right place. I have a slight problem with OCD (Obsessive-compulsive disorder) and living like this sure is taking a toll on me.

TC has been a great help, taking carloads over the the apartment and shopping for furniture. He is having great fun finding all of the thrift stores and yard sales. We went to the store today to see everything that he bought and I love it all. Thank goodness we have similar tastes.

I'm praying the week after Thanksgiving I'll have a few days off to get settled in. That is if I survive "Black Friday"!  I'm working 10 to 12 hours on that dreaded day.

Patience Is A Virtue!

Moving into our new apartment is going so slow.  I’m working a ton of hours, and we still have to find some furniture.  TC did go out and buy a bed, now we need a table and chairs, dressers and a couch. One of my friends at work is giving us a nice recliner chair for our living room. I’m getting really excited and impatient.  I was hoping to be all settled before Thanksgiving, but it looks like it will take a bit longer. It’s getting harder and harder to keep up with the cleaning and laundry here at the motor home and trying to take a carload to the new place on a day to day basis.

After Thanksgiving, it will be almost impossible  for me to have any time at all to move or organize things (I’m a big time organizer).  I will be working a 12 hour day on “Black Friday”  and working like crazy every day after that until Christmas. Like I said, I’m not a very patient person.

not enough hours in the day
Maybe one day I’ll wake up in my new apartment and will realize that the moving fairy has been there and everything is beautiful, clean and in place………

Crazy Busy Out There!

Wow, it was crazy out there in the retail world today!  Working at JCP was  absolutely nuts, like a “Black Friday” crazy kinda of a day.  People are Christmas shopping already!  For some reason, Christmas shopping this early in the season, makes me think about the true meaning of the Christmas.

Why do people go crazy with shopping for Christmas, like it’s a chore?  Giving is a very generous to do, and receiving is a gift!  Those of us that can give and receive without thinking it’s a chore,  are very gifted people.

Tis the season to be jolly .....
(and Thanksgiving isn't here yet)
