Mall Rats!

Weekends are the time that the Mall Rats come out! Mall Rats are young people that hang out in malls because they can't find anything else to do (what happened to family time).
This rat is cuter than any of the mall rats we see in this mall!
The Mall Rats just love my store in the mall because we are the only store in the mall with an elevator and escalators (it's like a free carnival ride). They travel in large groups. A group of them will come up the elevator and run around the store knocking things off the shelves and giggling. Then they will ride down the escalator just to come up the elevator and do it all over again. As one group rides down the escalator another group will ride up the escalator and they will throw things back and forth to each other. They love the lingerie department. They will put things in the bras and panties like socks or tennis balls. Sometimes they will just pull down the bras on the dummies and just stand there and laugh and laugh. They have so much fun. On weekends we all feel like babysitters for the teenagers. I have one question and one question only............where are the parents?

I'm with you, where are their parents? It's one thing for teenagers to go with friends to the mall shop or eat. But to raise havoc in the store, I don't think so. Penney's may have to employ a (mean-looking) store guard on weekends.

I can only wonder what kind of adults many of them will make. They are clearly lacking in parental direction and education.

The parents are home, enjoying freedom from the behaviors you have to put up with during that time!

When I was a teenage there were no malls in town. I loved to spend my weekend days at the public museum drawing the animals in the exhibits. Bt then it was free and I was a lonely young artist who loved to get out of the house.

Could be doing worse things, I suppose!

Just found your blog. LOVE the photos of the doggie...she is a beauty. The rat is cute too, we have two "grand-rats". As to the mall-rats, annoying, but believe it or not, they too will grow up someday. Too bad "family time" no longer seems to be a priority.
