A Man's Own Good Breeding Is The Best Security Against Other People's Ill Manners!

I love my job and I love working with the public. Most people are easy going and fun to deal with, but not everyone. We will always have that one bad apple in the bunch. I think some people wake up and think "what can I complain about today" or "who can I tick off today".

Last night a customer called and wanted to rent one our cabins for the night.  I told the customer that in order to hold the cabin for him, he needed to place a deposit. He wanted me to hold the cabin for him without the deposit. I told him I would if he came in before we closed at 7:00 and he told me he could not be here by 7:00. I explained to him in that we don't leave the keys to our cabins out, that he needed to place a deposit. He finally gave me his credit card number and I held the cabin for him. When I closed the office, I put the cabin key out (in our night registration)  with a map that had directions on how to get to his cabin.
This morning he went into the office and said that I was rude. My co-worker said that there must have been a misunderstanding and apologized. He went to use the bath house and came back into the office and complained again. He complained to everyone he ran into. My co-worker gave him a discount and apologized again. He seemed happy for the discount and said he might be back tonight! OMG is that a riot or what. Maybe he acts like a butt head thinking he will always get a discount. Who knows, I just know I'm happier when I make people smile. Life to too short to be a cranky old curmudgeon.

thanks for reading, life is good................

I think some people make a career out of complaining. It must make them feel powerful...instead of the jerk that they are. In reality they probably have very low self-esteem.

Love Jodie wearing the "shades".

Totally agree!

We dislike the stupid people out there who feel as if there is nobody else on this earth but themselves...

You just can't please some people. I think they hunt for things to complain about. You are doing a great job. Don't let one person ruin it all for you. Stay safe.

Yep, I had that problem as well. They come in the door and are miserable right from the beginning. Some people just seem to enjoy being miserable.

I am happy that it is only a handful of people that are like that.

Hope you have a good day today!

Those kind of people make me grateful for what I have. You handled it well.
