The Titanic!

Yesterday we went to Pigeon Forge to see the Titanic. Rick and Betty picked us up at 10:00. It's a good thing we got there fairly early, it was busy. As it turns out it was on April 15 that the Titanic sank 98 years ago. We had no idea the ship sank on April 15 , it was always just tax day to me.

The first thing to do, is get our boarding pass, everyone gets a boarding pass with a name on it who really travelled on the Titanic. TC was Joseph Scarrott, he was a 33 year old crew member from Southampton, England. I was Nellie Bessette, I was a 39 year old first class passenger from Briarcliff Manor, New York. Once you get your boarding pass you then go in and buy your ticket, we received a discount because of our "workamping" positions. We had to turn our cell phones off and no cameras were allowed. I don't know what it is about Pigeon Forge, they must not like cameras.

Our visit on the Titanic was very nice. They had the grand staircase and a room that had a simulated iceberg. You could feel the chill of that fateful "Starry Night". You could reach out and touch the iceberg, it was very cold. I can't imagine how those poor people felt in the cold 28 degree water, you could touch that freezing water. Brr............ They had the sound effects of the ship crashing into the iceberg and it made me feel very frightened and cold.
There was only one car on board the Titanic. We all remember that scene with Jack and Rose in that car. They had that car there. We learned so much, there were 10 dogs on board and the youngest child was only 2 months old. After our visit, we were able to see all of the names of the passengers that were on board. Nellie and Joseph survived, the crew member that Rick played did not.

Since we couldn't take pictures, some of the pictures above are postcards that I bought at the gift store, you have to go through the gift store on your way out. I was able to snap some pictures of the outside. All in all it was a great attraction and we had a great time.
