Downtown Lexington!

TC and I decided to drive to downtown Lexington. I loved downtown Lexington. Here are some facts on Lexington..... Not all small towns are created equal. Some are merely small. Lexington has preserved its small town feel, while adding unique boutique shopping and dining experiences. When Hollywood looked to capture the charm of 19th century America for “Sommersby,” they chose Downtown Lexington, and when “Gods and Generals” sought the essence of Civil War military bearing, they selected the historic campus of Virginia Military Institute. The Virginia Military Institute is huge! Lexington’s entire downtown is listed on the State and National Registers of Historic Places. As the Rockbridge County seat, it has long been the center of commerce and social activity for the area. The architecture in this picturesque 19th century town has been carefully preserved. With over 40 retail shops, downtown Lexington is a shopper’s paradise offering Virginia-made gifts, fine art, clothing, shoes and more. We had a nice lunch at a restaurant called "The Palms". TC had a grilled Ruben sandwich and I had blackened tuna served on a salad. Excellent food and service!
